Tutoring

Have you been thinking about becoming an adult literacy tutor?

Our volunteer tutors are college graduates with a genuine interest in teaching adults — no prior teaching experience is required. Tutors work one-on-one with students during the day, evening, or on weekends. Tutoring is conducted in public places such as libraries, coffee shops, and schools. Times and locations are mutually agreed upon by the student and the tutor.

Literacy Forsyth provides free tutor training, books, materials, and program management.

Requirements

Volunteer Tutors must:

• be at least 22 years old
• have excellent English Language skills (speaking, reading, and writing)
• be available to work with a student 1 - 3 hours per week
• be able to commit to the program for a minimum of 1 year
