On Monday, November 29, 2010 Literacy Forsyth was one of several local non-profits to receive funding from Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation's Operation Round-up program. Operation Round-up channels donations from Sawnee customers to charities in Dawson and Forsyth Counties. This is the third consecutive year that Literacy Forsyth has been selected to receive support from the program. The donation will be used to fund GED Scholarships for students attending the Adult Learning Center at Lanier Technical College. Students who demonstrate the skills needed to pass the GED exam but lack the resources to pay the test fee are eligible for the scholarship. Representing Literacy Forsyth at the gifting event were volunteers Mary Ann Mallon (front row, far left), and Nan Donay (front row, far right), and board members Linda Lang (second row, fourth from left) and Elaine Glenn (second row, fifth from left).
