English as a Second Language (ESL)

Literacy Forsyth helps fund Free English as a Second Language (ESL) classes through the Adult Learning Center at Lanier Technical College at Lanier Technical College, Forsyth Campus. Instruction & materials are free to county residents. New classes start every quarter. 

For more information, please call the Adult Learning Center at 770-781-6987. Students must register for classes in person at the Center. Proof of legal residency is required.

English Language Class Levels: 

  • Beginner I, II, III
  • Intermediate I, II
  • Advanced I, II, III

Classes are held in locations throughout Forsyth County:

  • Almon C. Hill Center — 136 Elm Street, Cumming
  • Lanier Technical College, Forsyth Campus — 7745 Majors Road, Cumming
  • Midway Methodist Church — 5025 Highway 9 North, Alpharetta
  • Shiloh Point Elementary School — 8145 Majors Road, Cumming
  • Cumming First United Methodist Church — 770 Canton Highway (Hwy.20), Cumming
  • Johns Creek Baptist Church -- 6010 McGinnis Ferry Road, Alpharetta
  • Piney Grove Middle School -- 8135 Majors Road, Cumming

NEW! Free Civics and Citizenship Class 

This class is designed for intermediate speakers who are applying for U.S. Citizenship through naturalization.  The class covers U.S. History and Government, the Naturalization Process, and preparing for the naturalization exam.  Classes are held at Lanier Technical College and are free to adults over 21.  Must have intermediate English Language skills and be a legal resident of the United States.  For class dates and times, please call 770-781-6987.

Winter Term Registration Information

The Fall Term will begin on August 29, 2011 and end on December 8.  All classes and materials are free but students must register in person -- see dates and locations below.  Proof of legal residency is required.
